I drove. And kept driving. And finally, down a dirt road, I arrived to Whip Poor Will Hill, where Liz and David held both their ceremony and reception. The small, family run venue was perfect for the couple’s rustic, Fall wedding with trendy marsala, blush, and gold colors.
The couple’s wedding was FULL of little (and BIG) details. When I arrived at the venue for the rehearsal the day before the wedding, I got to see all of the crazy hard work I knew Liz’s mom had put into the wedding. She MADE cocktail tables. She MADE a bar. She MADE a ribbon backdrop for the venues covered reception area. And it didn’t stop there. This DIY wedding left no detail undone.
When it came to the actual wedding day, everything started out beautifully… most notably, the weather. It’s been a long summer and this first day of October actually felt like Fall. There was sunshine and a nice breeze, but the day still felt warm. It was beautiful being able to look up from placing centerpieces and see horses running in the field. Hair and makeup, getting dressed, photos before the ceremony… the day just flowed.
I had three favorite moments of the day: 1. When the groom told me he didn’t care about what things looked like, or how many seats were empty, he just wanted to marry Liz. 2. The bride shedding a few sweet tears when reading the note the groom wrote for her before the ceremony. 3. Greeting the bride and groom with happy tears, smiles, and hugs as they made their way towards the house after the ceremony for a quick few minutes to enjoy their new marriage! It just made my heart happy to SEE the love they have for each other shine so bright on their wedding day.
The evening continued with appetizers, drinks, dinner, and fun reception extras like an open air photobooth with selfie-sticks and props, a s’mores station, and mini pies at each seat for the guests. Guests took advantage of a thoroughly enjoyable evening, all the way through the sparkler exit. Liz and David, thanks for choosing me to be a part of your day; I had such a wonderful time.
