Almost exactly a year ago, I decided to throw my last bit of energy before having a baby into a sexy styled shoot with a dynamic team of vendors. Said baby is the reason that it’s taken me an entire year to get this blog post published, but since then, four different wedding blogs have featured this sultry and fun Prohibition themed wedding shoot: Bustld, Ultimate Wedding Digital, Tantamount Love, and Strictly Weddings.
The inspiration for this shoot came from the photographers’ love of the Netflix show Peaky Blinders, paired with the amazing craft brew scene in Charlotte. We wanted to create the fabulous look of the 1920s, paying homage to the more secretive, sultry speakeasy feel as opposed to the more known and used Gatsby/Flapper look. To achieve the darker look and feel, we used deep jewel tones in the linens and florals, featured a whiskey and cigar table, and played off the black walls and wood tones of the venue itself, Sugar Creek Brewery.
The cake was an absolute work of art from Sky’s the Limit Bridal Sweets. It featured a detailed 1920s inspired brocade in copper with an oxidized copper icing color that tied into the teal from the linens provided by Cooke Rentals. Our groom, Joe Rodonis wore a custom suit from Charlotte’s own Abbydale, highlighted by a newsboy cap and textured wedding ring from Skatell's Jewelers. And finally, the stunning Kenneth Winston wedding dress from Paige and Elliott Bridal worn by Skyler Moore could not have been more fitting. The dress featured pearl beading, the popular and oh so sexy plunging backline, and a geometric design pattern that gives the entire dress an art deco feel. Combined with a show stopping oversized bouquet from PA Reavis Designs, a 20s inspired hairstyle from Mandi Does Hair, and smokey makeup by Anne Marie Mitchell Makeup Artistry, the bridal look was nothing less than stunning.
But enough with the words… you need more pictures from LunahZon and the highlight video from West Mint Media!!
Thank you again to the fantastic team who helped create this sassy shoot!
Happy Planning,
